Monica Gallagher is a writer and illustrator with over fifteen years experience making comics with a positive, feminist spin. She has worked for Oni Press, Vertigo, Papercutz, Comixology, Dark Horse, and Valiant, and as well as self-published several of her own mini-comics and books. She has two series comics currently on Webtoon -- Assassin Roommate (which won a Ringo award in 2018 for Best Hero!), and BOO! It’s Sex with Danielle Corsetto. Assassin Roommate Book #1 was published in October 2020. She’s the co-writer/co-creator of Comixology’s The Black Ghost series and iHeart Radio’s Lethal Lit, (mentioned by the New York Times as “A Great Podcast of 2018”!) with Alex Segura. She maintains an enthusiastic following on her Patreon page, where she self-publishes the series The Biggest Bigfoot and Bonnie N. Collide, Nine to Five (reviewed here by NPR Books). She is represented by Carrie Hannigan of HG Literary Agency.

In 2013, Monica started up Bmore Into Comics, a series of small, one-day shows featuring comics creators exhibiting their work in local businesses throughout Baltimore, with the goal of getting more people interested in and reading comics. Her hope is that it catches on and casual mini-comics fests spring up all over!

Monica quit her day job in March 2017 (THANKS PATRONS!) and is currently a freelance writer and cartoonist living in Austin with her husband and gigantor ginger cat.
